Need Some Help !

hello yall im new to hear, but i always come to these forums and look around for help.

This sunday im doen some work and earning around 300dollers, and i want to upgrade my current Video card .

its a Nvidia Fx5200 , now it runs Hl2 On high settins at 1125X something lol, cant remember but i want a graphics card that will go the full way for me for that game in Normal and Online play.

This is including Counter-strike source and also the Upcomming new release Hl2 lost coast.

my current system im runnin on is a .
Dell Dimension 8300
Intel(R)
3.19GHz
1.00gb or ram
Processer Inter(R) Pentuim (R) 4 CPU 3.20Ghz
Creative SB Audigy 2 Zs
BNios - Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A05
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

i cant find out wat motherboard i got :( not that smart.
But atm on monday im lookin at buying a 6600Gt 128 For 255Dollers, will this increase my game play with Hl2 and other games, or will there be no real increase in performance?

Also if there wont be, what else would you recommend to me.

Given what you're using now, the 6600GT will be a HUGE increase in both general and gaming performance.

Out of curiosity, what country are you in? I ask because if you're US based you should be able to order a 6600GT for under $200 from any number of online vendors.

What country are you in? That sounds like a high price for north america. I payed $179cdn for the one I got.
About that fx5200, it is a very low end card, almost anything is better. You will notice like a 300% increase in gfx performance with a 6600gt.

OK thnx mate, stupid dell givin out there ****ty video cards.

Anyway, im in australia atm, and across at wagga they are sellin 6600gt's for $250, is there any dif in the 6600gts?

Also i can pick 6800Gt's or ultras or somethin of ebay for $200!!!
anyway,so a 6600gt will be a big improvement, that will be nice because atm i play hl2 and css with settins on high, but my actual video card settings are off, anti - off
image - Performance and so forth.
