X800 XL or 6800 GT??

I was originally going to go with a 6800 GT but recently I saw the X800 XL which is a little cheaper and offers equivalent performance. I would be overclocking the card so that factors in as well. Which one should I get???

The 6800GT has Pixel Shader 3.0 and, as a result, will provide better image quality. Performance will be nearly identical, with both cards having advantages over the other in different games. That said, most of the better games (not necessarily the games with better graphics) give the advantage to the ATI card. However, framerates in those games are so high that it won't even matter. The games where the 6800GT does better are the ones that can actually take advantage of the extra power, for the most part.

So basically, a 6800GT offers better image quality with no performance drawback and IMO is the better choice, provided the price is fairly close (which it should be in both PCI-E and AGP, depending on where you look).

i agree with him with the 6800 gt the performance is good. But for image quality, ati cards have a sharper picture, but the 6800 has better shadows. 6800gt!! get it.

For overclocking avoid the X800 XL. I had one and it just didn't like to overclock. It was awesome for stock speeds. I say get the 6800GT for overclocking, or save up a few more bucks and get the X850 XT. The proces are coming down and they are SWEEEEET!

If you do not overclock at all, definitely get the X800 XL just for the price. It played all games at maximum settings at 1600X1200 no sweat.

It costs considerably more than a 6800GT in AGP, and is within $20 in PCI-E. I'd say $20 is worth the improved image quality, assuming we're even talking about PCI-E.
