  • Geforce 5200/5700 VS 6200TurboCache

Hello to all ... this is my first post on this forum even though i have been lurking on here for ages .

I was recently forced to go the PCI-X route by circumstances beyond my controll and had to buy one of the new 6200Turbocache cards. I at least got the one with 64Mb on board (allocates to a total of 256Mb) and i have yet to find a review of this specific 64Mb model.

I used to have a 128Mb geforce 5200 card and was about to upgrade it to a 5700 but my mobo failed under warranty and they could only supply me with a PCI-X model mobo to replace it :(

    In your oppinion , would a PCI-X 6200TC card be better than a 5200/5700 cards ?

I guess its futile if you guys say the 5xxx series would have been better cause i cant go back but i am hoping that you will say the TC card is better for some reason :)

    Ciao
    Jack

If you're going to buy the 6200TC, get the 64bit not the 32bit model. Make sure you have at least 512MB of RAM. Anyway those FX's will look hopeless once you see how well (comparatively) the 6200 performs, especially in DX9 games

Edit: i see you already have those. Well, enjoy your new video card

I wish that some people will learn the difference between PCI-X (extended PCI) and PCI-Express (PCI-E or PCIe).

Sometimes people put X as short for eXpress, i dont think he knew about the PCI-X thing anyway...

It seems logical, but that X is for eXtended. The only PCI-X card you can get is a RAID, SCSI, or SATA.

Gigabit Ethernet. PCI-X is mainly used in servers.

Though now nvidia has on-chip gigabit ethernet, its not necessary
