hey guys! ATM i'm running an MSI 9800 Pro (which runs very well) and am and wondering if upgrading to an ABIT X800 Pro 256mb GDDR3 would be worthwhile??? and would there be much of a performance boost?
Depends on the game. Some are too CPU-dependant to see much from that upgrade, but most will gain huge increases. Unless you're in a country where ATI costs much less than nVidia, though, it's probably better to get a GeForce 6800 GT, depending on what games you play. Many of the games the 6800 beat the X800 in are the less CPU-dependant ones (Doom 3 being the primary example). If you mostly play games that get better performance on the ATI line, though, then stick with that. There's also the option of the 6800 non-GT non-Ultra, which will save you a lot of money (at least $100 U.S.) and still be a huge improvement over the 9800 Pro.
