  • 9800XT v. 9800 Pro ???

is there really a massive diff between these 2 cards??????

I'm planning on getting a 9800 Pro this week and would love an XT but can't justify the extra $200.00

The XT does manage to beat out the 9800 Pro, but not $200 worth (IMO).

Well, you can get them for around $350 while a 9800 Pro is around $200. Not quite $200 more, but it's not worth one hundred dollards more. A GeForce 6800 is under $290; why get a 9800XT? Paying over $60 for 12MHz Core, 30MHz Memory, and the loss of Pixel Shader 3 is kind of a waste of money...

For a little bit more money than the XT, a 6800 GT or X800 Pro would be a good purchase.

Are you sure that isn't the 6800Ultra? There's a big difference between the 6800 and 6800U...

I'm mostly going on what I saw on a mates pc at a lan here at my place some weeks ago. We were playing Far Cry and I was watching this guy playing with his newly installed 9800 Pro and it blew me away! I thought my 9600 XT looked good but his card was so much smoother and just looked so much better! *wimper*

Upgrading your RAM to 1GB will do more for you over the next year than going to a 9800 of any kind, and then you can save up for an X800 or a 6800.
