  • TNT2

    Hi Everyone,

I own a Nvidia TNT2 with a chipset fan on it (yes, I will upgrade at the end of the year). I like to know if it is safe to remove the fan and just have the heatsink on. I want to do this because it's really noisey. Will it fry the video card? And subsequently damage the motherboard?

    Thanks in advance

    Johnny.

Yeah, you can remove the fan on TNT2. I would not reccomend it, but it is safe. I had a TNT2 without a fan and it worked fine.

just get a bigger heatsink if your not sure, and use thermal adhesive to glue it on.

Wow old card, but a good one though! I had that same card and problem, what I did was take the original fan off.I had an old 486 heat sink fan it was the exact size just a little taller glued it to the four pins that remain when u take the old one off. It worked great for as long as I had that card.
