  • Can I be the only one with this ATI AIW 9800 Pro 128 problem

I have been using the ATI AIW 9800 Pro 128 for two months and have captured hours of video and burned to DVD.

Last week I pluged the video jack into the purple input like I have done 100 times before and I got this Vvvvvooooopppppp sound and the screen went black.

I rebooted and there was no video for the composite or S-video (just the TV) - audio for all 3.

I returned the card and was sent another with a note saying that the card was defective.

I installed it and it looked fine. My TV channels were added - everything was set up.

I plugged in the video jack and everything went black again!!!! (no Vvvvvooooopppppp this time)

Now no video in composite, S-video, or TV.

I contacted ATI today and they never heard of this before. They are sending me another card with a new purple input cable.

I am using a JVC plug in to my camera with the 3 RCA jack output.

I'm afraid to plug the video in again when the new card comes.

Could it be the cable - or two bad cards in a row, or..............?

    Any comments?????

    Thanks,

    Dave

I have sent this same concern to ATI with no responce.

maybe the camera signal is too strong for the card?

Hot pluggin' should only be done with firewire and USB connections that's how ya spose to know. ;)

but that shouldnt kill the card unless the camera is on while he plugs it in right?
