Sapphire 9600 cooling options

yay the board is back up!!!

ok anyway....i just bought myself a sapphire 9600 256MB card today...just waiting to get it in the mail....i was wondering what kind of cooling options do i have for it?

I saw little mem chip heatsinks i could buy, but i was looking for a bigger and better solution....like adding another fan to my beast :flames:

The only thing i saw were for 9700/9800 series, those were a zalman coller, and a TT i believe....i looked at a couple 9700/9800 and they looked close to my card but not quite.....anyone have a suggestion?

I really dont want to ghetto rig another card...right now on my 64mb sdr radeon, i have a fan screwed in perpendicual to the heat sink, blowing air across the fins....not the best deal, but it work....

but im hoping someone has this card and can shed some light for me...thanks :cheers:

I would first overclock the card and see if you have the need for extra cooling. I have tested the Sapphire line before and the stock fans generally allow for very good overclocking without having to add anything.

But if you're bound and determined to add something else, then you can look at the Thermaltake cooler made for that board. I features a heatpipe cooling device plus a fan mounted on top for airflow (not really needed, but if you gotta have noise it will create it for you). It is called the Giant III.

These cards get real hot with that passive heatsink, nevermind ocing. This is the same hs they use on the bulk r9000 non pro. I would still do what darth said. Use ghetto cooling to find out if it can even oc at all before spending more $ on fancy cooling that may do nothing to help the ocing situation.

If ya can get it to oc, one of these would do the trick for cheap. I have used these to replace the sapphire bulk hs's before with top notch results(on the cards that allowed ocing). Make sure you use enough as3/5 or ceramique in conjunction with any hfs upgrade. Due to the irregular shape of gfx cores, more tim is needed to fill the voids.

Hmmm... I really cant see how big the area is, but you might want to buy a rackmount server CPU HSF, like the a Dynatron 1U . Buy two, use on on the GPU and but the others heatsink into strips and epoxy them to the RAM chips using Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive. I forget what site I saw that on, but it looked like it would cool really well. : peace2: Mista K6

Ya the gf4 coolers are meant for ti cards and have different mounting hole spacing.

How do you oc that card?
I have Sapphire radeon 9600 129 mb and i canoot oc it...

Every time I try... it return to stock speeds after a few seconds...
I tried 3d rage and rad linker
