New video cards....when?

How long until the next gen cards come out, because I'm looking to buy a 9800 Pro, and if they're coming out pretty soon, then i'll just wait and save some money and buy a Radeon once the price drops.

Prices already dropped for 9800 pro, the lowest i saw for 250.

Actually I didn't realize it because they were out of stock at the time, but they have the retial package for $229.

However, they never seem to have it in stock. Either the cards sell out really fast or they've just been pushing back the restock date.

If you can wait for the new PCI-Express cards come out in early April.

Then either enjoy the saving on old tech (AGP) or spring for a new MB, Processor and PCI-Express card. Supposed to be twice as fast.

"Supposed to be" is a big difference from what it will actually be.

Trust me, new tech is never twice as fast.

I've got 25 years in IT. I agree with you that a two fold increase in video performance would be exceptional. I just related the figure because it was stated in a pretty good article (sorry I didn't mark the url).

I'd be quite pleased with a 20% real world increase with a cost of the video card $500 or less.
