then, you will sing the blues..........ati touts their new card as twice the speed of a 9800 pro...whew, makes me sweat to even say that.........then to top that off, nvidia played it's hand to get ati to cough up what's in their pipeline, only to get leapfrogged by nvidia with the nv40...........all by september's end i believe......so, i'd wait :thumb:

JSR: The NV38 (Nvidia) and the R360 (ATI) should be launched at Computex later this month.
The NV40 (Nvidia) and the R420 Loki (ATI) won't be available until next year, there will be an AGP8X and PCI-Express 16X version of each card.

JSR: Welcome to TweakTown :thumb:. A Nvidia employee told me last week that the NV40 won't be available until next year.

                R360
R400 Codename changed to R420 Loki
                R420

                NV38
                NV40

hey, if you got that, who am i to contradict..........x-bit has the nv40 getting here by christmas.............and, in my wanderings around, i also read that nvidia would supercede their launch of the nv38, with the 40, as they are fully aware nothing short of the 40 would make an impact..............to top this off, i don't think it matters to ati, as they are supposedly in bed with valve to bundle half-life 2 with their videocards before the holidays, sheesh :wow:

I had a GeForce FX 5600 128meg. Hated it... Not much better than my Geforce 3 ti 200 64meg. Had a Warranty issue with it and took it back to store exchanged it for a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256megs. OMG... had a few power issues to deal with, but man what a difference.

Conclusion: If you can afford it... BUY IT.

for now, it's just that the new kid on the block is just around the corner, so would you buy the top dog now, or wait a few parsecs, for the new kid, which by the way, may come with half life 2 as a throw in :thumb:
