Re: Baby's First Overclock [Pentium E2160]
You might notice an improvement with using 4-4-4-12 primary memory timings.
With my system I can use 4-4-4-10 timings up to abut 875MHz. MaxxMEM2 is a free memory benchmark tool, but I often see a difference of 100 or more points even when I haven't made any changes. I prefer to use 7zip as a benchmark and stability test by zipping a large folder such as the My Documents folder, followed by testing the zip file's integrity and then followed by unzipping the file to a temporary folder to see if there are any problems.
In post #13 my goal was to help you break through the 312MHz FSB barrier. While 7 x 400MHz failed you can try using the 8X cpu multiplier with the 333MHz memory strap and increase the 350MHz FSB by 5 or 10MHz and see how far you can go. It's probably a bad idea to use the 400MHz memory strap when your FSB is less than 400MHz.
The following primary memory timings were optimal on my systems with different FSB settings:
As I recall the low scores in tests #3 and #4 were due to running with moderately heavy loads that were not running while the other MaxxMEM2 benchmarks were running.
