  • Overclocking/ Optimizing CPU speed

I'm running on an 1.6GHz Intel P4 Mobile CPU. currently it's running at 1.2GHz. Is it ok to optimize or overclock the cpu? Oh yah, its on an HP omnibook. :) if its ok to optimize/overclock, how? :)

If you turn off the power saving feature of the CPU/chipset then the CPU will then run at full speed (I do not recommend overclocking lappies).

Either in the BIOS and/or control panel. Intel Speedstep is something to look for as this will control the power saving/throttling feature of the CPU (also if dust has built up inside enough then the CPU maybe throttling itself due to heat) but the owner's manual that came with it should explain it features and how to alter them.
