  • OC AMD 64 3200+ Vience Core

I just got a new system:
    AMD 64 3200+ Vience Core
Western Digital 250GB, 16 Mb cache
    Sapphire Radeon x800Pro 256 Mb
    Patriot 1 Gb DDR 400
    Epox Ep-9npa+Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4, 1000MHz FSB

I would like to overclock my CPU, i've read a few reviews that mention is it possible to oc it to 3.0GHz, but i would atleast like to oc it to 2.5-2.6, if anyone has a good method they would like to share please do. Thanks

You can probably get 2.8GHz on air, 3.0GHz is reserved for very good water cooling or phase change cooling. It's all about the ram. What are the exact specifiactions of your ram? And do you know how to overclock an AMD64 CPU at all? Do you understand the whole ht/htt/memory dividers thing? Make sure you go into your bios and look around. Be ready to get very familiar with it. Also, download A64 Tweaker and ClockGen.

Im not too familar with the memory dividers. I have never overclocked an amd 64 before. I have oc'd older amd cpu's but not an 64bit. What is clockgen and a64 tweaker? Sorry kinda a noob at this. But my memory specs are:
      Cas Latency: 2
      Timing: 2-3-2-5
      Voltage: 2.5

        Ok, here is A64 Tweaker:

        http://users.tpg.com.au/spark69/A64T...eaker_V031.zip

I use version 0.60 as it works best for me.

        Here is Clockgen:

        http://www.cpuid.org/clockgen.php

A64 Tweaker will allow you to adjust memory settings in Windows
ClockGen will allow you to overclock the CPU in windows. You can overclock to some degree in bios, but to do extreme overclocks, you need to do it in windows as the settings in bios may be too high and cause your system not to boot and even make you clear the CMOS with the jumper to boot. If you do it in windows and use settings that are too high, it will just reboot. You need to find a good A64 overclocking guide and read it well. Here is one I have used:

It is a little challenging for the first week or so, but once you get a hang of it, you will be amazed at what these A64 CPUs are capable of.
