Unlocking CPU. L1 bridge gap

Question: The L1 bride on the AMD processors that has been laser cut. I've had an Atholon XP 1700+ that I unlocked uring superglue, and conductive ink. Doesn't all that do is unlock the FSB and not the multiplier? in other words it allows you to change your Front Side Bus Settings where before they were locked in at 133 and so on.

I've heard people talking about unlocking the processor for increasing the multiplier, but I think that the L1 is actually the FSB control ??

the FSB was never locked, not on AMD or Intel chips. What you did was unlock the multiplier

Ok the L1 bridges work with Thunderbirds/Durons and Palaminoes but Thoroughbreds (and possibly Bartons) use the L3 bridges.
