  • Problems with WinXP and Geforce2

Wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I just did a clean install of WinXP on my system. Got the OS and working apps up and running fine. Decided to start installing some games and ran into problems.

When trying to run Warcraft 3 I get no video

When trying to run Quake 3 I get a hard lock on the start up screen.

    My specs are

    Abit KT7-RAID
    AMD Athlon 1.2
    Geforce2 GTS
    SB Live 5.1

I am thinking it is a video driver problem (I am running the NVidia driver available on the Microsoft update page) which is why I am asking in this forum.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Sounds like ya have an NV loop prob but head over to www.guru3d.com and try a few of their many nVidia drivers as one will fix that for ya or roll the driver back to one that works. ;)

When you did the re-install, did you install the latest mobo drivers?

Actually it is not a re-install. It is a fresh install

I did not load the newest 4in1 Via drivers (wasn't sure I should from comments from others).

I looked at the "Staying out of the Loop" article. I will try some of those suggestions and then if they don't work install the newest 4in1 drivers.

It only happens with 3D apps (no fun for me).

        Thanks guys.
