  • Newbee Drivers Question

    Hello all..

I'm a newbee at this stuff, so please forgive my ignorance!

I just reinstalled XP onto a IBM PC and everything went well....except for
now when it starts it searches for video drivers that it cannot find.

I've searched the XP CD, the hard drive to no luck. My question is, this computer has no video card, the monitor is plugged into the motherboard.
On board video I guess? The computer is not a name brand, it was built by a
shop. (which is no longer around) so the question is, is there a way to find out what kind of video drivers I need so we can view past the 640 low color
availability? Are there standard IBM SVGA or VGA drivers that I can download??

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

    Re: Newbee Drivers Question

You will prolly need more than just the video drivers to get everything working properly. Windows will install generic drivers for most components but you really should install drivers for your chipset (motherboard), video, sound, network card, etc. Have a good look at your motherboard and see if you can find a make and model number. If you find make and model # then do a search of the company website for drivers that match your board. You may also find some info by using a program such as Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and searching out the individual drivers.
