Fans on while in stand by

Do my fans need to be running when my computer is in standby? If not, can i get them to stop? all of my fans run off the power supply except the cpu fan.

power supply stays on full power when the system is in standby. Most devices throttle back like processor clocks at only a few hundred MHz, memory is next to dead except the little power it has to retain what its holding in storage for your computer computer session. Hard drives turn off completely. The mobo is throttled back of course. Now the fans that you have plugged into the power supply will stay on full power, However the ones you have plugged into the mobo will either slow down or stop completely. My northbridge fan comes to almost a complete stop when I'm in stand by. So slow I can see the individual blades circulating. Hope this helped somewhat.
