• Scientist burns ***** with hot laptop

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Laptops have always been a hot item but a 50-year-old scientist didn't realize to what extent until he burned his *****.

The previously healthy father of two remembered feeling a burning sensation after he had been writing a report at home for about an hour with the computer on his lap.

He noticed a redness and irritation the following day but it wasn't until he was examined by a doctor that he realized how much damage had been done.

"The ventral part of his scrotal skin had turned red, and there was a blister with a diameter of about two centimeters (0.8 inches)," Claes-Gorn Ostenson, of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, wrote in a letter published in The Lancet medical journal Friday.

Two days later, the blisters broke and the wounds became infected and then crusted but after about a week the unidentified scientist was "healing quite rapidly."

Ostenson noted that the computer manual did warn against operating it directly on exposed skin but said the patient had lap burns even though he had been wearing trousers and underpants.

That guy has got to be a classic example of the "absent-minded professor".
100% brain & 0% life skills.

Do you suppose he has someone follow him around to remind him to breathe?

He may have some autistic-type dysfunction of course.

**tap, tap, tap, enter**____"hmm, what's that smell? oh well, can't be stuffed with it right now." ____ **tap, tap, tap, tab, enter**

Here's a thought;
If you fry your p-p and don't notice -- do the planet a favor and don't ever try using it for the reproduction function

I heard that on the screen savers on TechTV a few days ago.
Maybe some one made it up.. A Laptop can't burn your HEHE. Unless the heatsink is toching it. And your playing like ut2003 or something.

Actually I do have an old EZBook that probably gets that hot.
That's why I always use a table or something.

TechTV rocks!!!!

I can't wait for next Wednesday's show when Woz is hosting with Martin. Woz is so cool - even if he is a Mac dood!

How come they don't do fridge pictures anymore? :(

Most of the P3 and P4 laptops I've been around can get super hot when running @ a full load for an extended period. Even some of the older apple G3 laptops got hot enough to burn your lap.

Now if I knew the answer to that I'd be your hero

Be cool to have the baby on the set though, my wife would let me watch it more regularly if she got to see a baby:thumb:

My PC was a fridge picture, but I never got to see that show:cry:

If anyone has the 03/01/01 episode of the screensavers on VHS, I got money to buy a copy!
Anyone?

About 6 months ago I was in a big PC outlet in the city when one of the young salesnerds picks up a notebook that's been runnin' demo loops for goodness knows how long (gettin' well into the afternoon by this time) and proceeded to show a customer while balancin' the think on his palm while demonstratin' it. Well within a minute the notebook hits the floor and ppl are comin' out of the woodwork and I walked out  so ya know what happened. :D

I wonder if he still works there? :?:
