Need Cooler

I have a Intel Prescott P4 3.00 Ghz with HT on an Intel D965PERL motherboard.

My processor temp goes over 75 celsius!!! (Room temp is around 32 celsius: in Sri Lanka)

Please recommend me the best cpu cooler and the best thermal compound for my processor (The total must be below $80 for both).

A person told me a thermaltake cooler might be good. But there were lots of models, I couldn't choose the best one.

I might be upgrading my motherboard to gigabyte or something, make sure the cooler has support for the most popular motherboard brands.

And, is there any other ways to cool, which is cheap?

It shouldn't be that high - is this idle or in games?

You didn't apply too much thermal paste did you?

That temp is at LOAD. I havent applied anything since I bought the machine.

Either the temp sensor is inaccurate or you did a poor job of applying thermal compound and/or the heatsink. Even Prescotts don't get temps that high without overclocking, provided the stock retail cooler or better is used.

Arctic Silver 5 is the best thermal compound.

Thermaltake does make very good HSFs. One model for LGA775 is called Jungle512.

Mine is not LGA775, it is a 3.00Ghz 478 prescott processor. Just tell me the best cooler available for my processor within the price range I specified. I will buy Arctic Silver 5 as my thermal compound.
