  • no sound via HDMI only through my ampli !!!!

    ahhhhhhhhhhh! i’ll become crazy !!

after my too loud noise problem .. i meet another problem ....

i have an ampli (onkyo tx-sr674) and when i link my shuttle to it via hdmi : no sound ! but when i link to my plasma LG i have sound !

sg33g5 to onkyo via spdif : sound ok
sg33g5 to onkyo via hdmi : sound nok (but video ok)
sg33g5 to plasma lg tv : sound ok , video ok

i swap cables ... no success

on my onkyo , i have also by hdmi : dvd player , tv receiver (freebox for french user) , xbox 360 (via YUV upscale) and i have always the sound

have you got an idea ???

other question : is the sound over spdif is same quality as over hdmi ?

thanks a lot for your help

Just curious were the audio drivers installed correctly on your OS?
Under device manager in windows, are the audio drivers installed without the yellow ! mark?
sound quality over SPDIF is actually better than over HDMI.

It seems that your particular Onkyo is known for just that particular problem.

Re: no sound via HDMI only through my ampli !!!!

I just did a simple google search and I didn't even get to the 2nd page of results as a few articles had already stated that there is in some cases audio probs with certain hardware setups but not with others.

Great it looks like i'm suffering as well with a shuttle SN68PTG5 AM2 Barebone and my Onkyo TX-SR605 ...

I also find the pic via hdmi and the amp is aweful with even X264(hi def) movies etc .. tried all reses etc .. any more thoughts on this as i wanted to lose the vga cable and after spending alot of cash i feel cheated!

I have assigned this to IN3 on the HDMI and Digital I/O. Other HDMI devices attached ie PS3 & Pioneer TV are working fine. Any help would be gratefully recieved
