drive no longer recognized by eeepc 901. how do I proceed? firmware update program doesn't see the drive either.

Have you tried external USB cable
Can you please check if it can be recognized by USB not use it as a primary disk.

Using the housing that came with the drive and usb it is recognized as a "Removable Drive E:" however when you try to access it I get an I/O Error. What is next? I need this issue resolved ASAP.
