  • RunCore IV SATA II 128GB SSD install on MacBook Pro

    Hi

I've just bought a RunCore Pro IV Sata II 2.5" SSD 128GB drive following its praise on a podcast.

I am trying to get it to work with a Unibody MacBook Pro 2.4GHz, but without success.

I first tried to use SuperDuper (a registered copy even) to copy my internal HDD to the SSD. But this failed.

Therefore, I installed the SSD and rebooted off Install DVD.
The installer sees the SSD and I reformatted it with 1 partition (GUID).
The I ran installer which went through first part ok, but when the "Installing" screen appears it says "Installing Mac OS X on the volume 'Untitled'", wth 'Time remaining: Calculating....' below, but the progress bar has not moved so far after at least 20 minutes.

Has anyone succeeded in this task?

    Kind regards
    Craig.

So I looked at the install Log and the last things noted are:
    From OSInstaller:
    Processing BaseSystem:
    Determining files to install
    Configuring deferred files
    ...
    Validating package payload
    Starting file extraction

    installdb:
Opened receipt database on '/Volumes/Untitled/' with schema 0.

9 minutes later a process called 'Unknown' reports:
'Mac OS X Installer (CarbonCore.framework) FSEventStreamStart: ERROR: FSEvents_connect() => Unknown service name (1102)

    OSInstaller then reports:
    installAutoFSMonitor: open failed
    TaskLauncher:Launch Failed
    "

Then I quit the installer and rebooted. All I got was Leopard installer window and spinning wheel of death.

Have you erase it before install system by SuperDuper ?

First, you need to make sure the SSD which you store your backup is a Macintosh-formatted disk. If not, you must use Disk Utility to erase it first, then selecting “Mac OS Extended” or “Mac os Extended(Journaled)” as the format. Then, begin to copy.

        Hi

Yes, I reformatted it for Mac OS Extended and also re-partitioned it as GUID for Intel.

        Any other ideas?

        TIA

The reason can't install the OS may be vary. It takes an or two hours by SuperDuper, too slowly. You can try the Carbon Copy Cloner,it is similar to SuperDuper, but it's quickly.
