  • z370xp sli can't set overclock

    i have a gigabyte z370xp sli and i5 k cpu and I can't get the overclock to work in my linux os

    - I have set all the settings as per instructions on this page
    GIGABYTE Z370 Guide to Overclocking Coffee Lake CPUs to 5GHz+ - Overclocking.Guide

    afterwards my overclock values are shown and working in bios, but not when i boot into linux

    in linux when i open cpu-x (cpu-z clone) my cpu and fsb are going up and down, not fixed at the overclock speed from bios

    This is driving me nuts, can anyone help ?

    seems to be a linux bug as windows 10 and cpu-z shows the correct overclocked settings :)

      Re: z370xp sli can't set overclock

      Just an update of my fun with this mb

      with a little bit of tuning I have the following results

      intel 8600K i5 cpu 6 cores

      5200Mhz = 200fsb x 26 - GSkills Ram @ 1600Mhz @ auto | not prime95 stable

      5125Mhz = 205fsb x 25 GSkills Ram @ 1600Mhz @ auto | almost prime95 stable

      5000Mhz = 200fsb x 25 GSkills Ram @ 1600Mhz @ 15-16-16-35-2t | prime95 stable

      4900Mhz = 175fsb x 28 GSkills Ram @ 3200Mhz @ 15-16-16-35-2t | prime95 stable

      Next step will be getting the cpu delidded, which should help with prime95 stability in my higher speeds

      Also for some unknown reason even though I have my ram set at 3500Mhz (20 x 133) in the bios, but cpu-z is only showing the ram @ 3200Mhz ???

      Final thoughts, its a good cheap overclocking board
