[SSD compatibility question] GA-X58A-UD3R with Samsung EVO Pro SSD

Will this SSD be compatible for my motherboard ? SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7KE256BW - Newegg.com

Do i need to update any Marvell/AHCI files ?

I have already updated the BIOS to FH

The Samsung 850 Pro (or Evo) drives should work fine on your X58 system using a native Intel sata2 port using AHCI mode.

The Marvell 9128 sata3 port might provide somewhat worse real world performance.
Do a web search using: Marvell 9128 problems to see what others have found.
I think that the Microsoft or Intel AHCI driver will probably work fine with the Marvell sata3 port.

note: The Gigabyte specs for you motherboard says:

"SATA3 SSDs are not recommended for use in RAID 0 mode on Marvell SE9128 ports."

I've had no problems running Samsung 830 and 840 Pro ssd's with my P35-DS3L, P35-DS4 and EP45-UD3P motherboards.
Currently I'm running two Crucial BX100 256GB ssd's in raid 0 with my EP45-UD3P sata2 ports with no problems.

Depending on your gaming needs you might be better off buying a 512GB 850 Pro ssd.
With my 512GB boot drive, I have reserved 20% of the space for over-provisioning space to maximize ssd life and performance.
I use Lightroom and several other high end image editing programs and for best performance I have allocated about 250GB for cache and temporary work space.
