  • Force revert to older bios - X99 Gaming 5p

Hello - I made the mistake of moving to the F21a from F2f bios on my Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5p. Until now, I've been overclocking at 4.25 and 4.37 very well at fairly low vcore - around 1.2. Now, with the same settings as before, things seem much less stable. When I try to reflash using a bootable USB, it prevents me from doing so and stops the process.

In the case of this bios, it says "This BIOS prohibits updating to earlier version BIOS". GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 2011-3 - GA-X99-Gaming 5P (rev. 1.0)

Any ideas on how to initiate the backup BIOS on this board - there is no switch. Thanks!

    First....
Same setting should not be set for any new BIOS.
    Try to adjust inputs.

    Second....
To initiate the backup BIOS, you can use method bellow:
    (1) The PC has to be off.
    (2) Press and hold down the power button. Don't let go.
    (3) The PC will turn on. A few seconds later, the PC will turn off again by itself.
    (4) Let go of the power button at this point.

Next start, the backup BIOS will take over.

    Third....
You can flash back BIOS with FPT-Win32/64- X99 in Windows mode:
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

Thanks - understood. Just didn't expect the change to be this drastic - the wrong way.

Tried this and a few different variations - nothing initiated backup.

I'm not familiar with FPT when compared to QFlash. Would you mind explaining what it does different? I'm intrigued bc QFlash won't let me downgrade the BIOS.

Thanks for this! I've been trying to stabilize my system with the new F21a BIOS - it's working out ok, but I'd love to get F2f back.

Unzip file "FPT-Win32/64- X99"....inside you have ...how to flash your F2f BIOS (must rename to bios.bin) ....in Windows OS (not Q-Flash/@BIOS or in DOS).
