  • GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 memory error C1

    Hello,

I'm using a GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 with an i7-2600k and can't get it to boot with the memory sticks that I previously used fine on a GA-970A-UD3 with an X4 955. These are 4x8 GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 CL10 and I get a C1 error with all of them plugged in, no matter what. Now it does boot when I replace one of them with a 2 GB 1333 ValueRAM stick but having only 26 GB at 1333 MHz isn't exactly optimal. I've already updated the BIOS to F10 and cleared the settings, is there any chance of getting this to work?

    Anyone? :/

I've heard about an F11a BIOS existing which isn't listed on the site, is it worth trying this?

Sometimes a newer bios version will have a brief description that says "improved memory compatibility."

The Kingston Memory Finder does not include any 32GB kits for your motherboard. Their compatibility list includes individual HyperX Fury 4GB 1866MHz modules but there are no 4 x 8GB kits. You can contact their tech support to see if they have any compatible kits that aren't listed.

The G.Skill Ram Configurator includes several 4 x 8GB 1866MHz and 2133MHz kits that are compatible with your motherboard.

I now got a Crucial Tactical Ballistix 8GB 1866 CL9 stick that I replaced the 2 GB one with, and it does boot with 32 GB detected, but all that it runs with is 1333 with these timings:

        CL: 9
        tRCD: 9
        tRP: 9
        tRAS: 24
        tRC: 33
        tRRD: 4
        tWTR: 5
        tWR: 10
        tWTP: 21
        tWL: 7
        tRFC: 174
        tRTP: 5
        tFAW: 20
        CR: 2
        IO Latency: 1
        Round Trip Latency: 36

All tries to get to 1600 or 1866 failed, also raising DRAM voltage to 1.58v didn't help at all. The CPU is overclocked to 4.5 GHz. Any possibility of improving on this?

Finally got this to work! The trick was to leave IO Latency and Round Trip Latency at auto. For the rest of the timings I roughly used the SPD readouts for 933 MHz.
