See if you can boot into windows Safe Mode, without network support.
Uninstall the Nvidia graphics and then install and run the DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) program to make sure that all traces of Nvidia software and drivers are removed.

You haven't told us which installation steps you've completed immediately after the first part of win7 was installed.
    • Did you load optimized bios defaults in your bios before you started making changes?
    • Did you do the INF install immediately after windows completed?
    • Did you update win7 by applying the SP1 update?
    • What else did you install before you installed the Nvidia software and drivers?
    • Which version of the Nvidia drivers did you install?
    • Is your system overclocked?
    • What is displayed in the motherboard's LED post code display when you reach the black screen?
    • How many individual wires are there in the motherboard's 8-pin EPS12V connector from the power supply cable? 4? 8?
    • Have you double checked that you did not forget any steps in the user manual's series of assembly steps?

There might be some useful information if you enable boot logging; do a web search using: windows 7 boot log for more information.

We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs
portion of your forum profile at the bottom of the profile page or in your forum signature.
Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.
When you are done editing or creating your hardware list, save the settings.

If your PC Specs are not as detailed as my specs, you will be wasting your time and ours.

    Additional information to be included:
    • memory brand, model number, number of memory modules and which memory slots are used
    • are there any other cards installed?
    • are you using any external usb hubs?
    • are any audio cables plugged in?
    • is your power supply brand new? if not, how old is it?

With the Nvidia software and drivers uninstalled, if you still have the same problem with windows, temporarily install a lesser graphics card to see if it makes a difference. Hopefully there are not any problems with the x16 pci-e slots.

It might help to see if your video card works in another system.

Re: Installing Windows 7 with gaming 5 z1

The only change to the i did to the BIOS really was to put the fans on medium which keeps my cpu temp roughly 38 degrees.
It wouldn't allow me to install any updates from the SP1.
i used the motherboard graphics card i got which is gigabyte g1 gaming intel 100 series utilites.
nvdia drivers wise i have no clue if i'm perfectly honest i used the disc that came with the geforce gtx 970 called zotac which contains geforce experience drivers, firestorm, boost premium, manual.
my system at the moment isn't OC since i want to get it all stable first.
It stays on AO but sometimes AE sticks on for a while.
      Assembly wise it's all correct.

I have also updated all my specs to best i could. all are brand new and no external stuff is used.
I can also not boot in safemode or uninstall the drivers since the entire screen is just black getting anything up is a challenge on it's own.

      Thanks in advance

      -Travis
