    Re: GA-X58-UD7 and Samsung 850 EVO 1TB

    ARRRRRG!!

In post #4 I said to connect your ssd to the Intel sata2_0 port for the best overall performance.

Check out Real C300 SSD not seen when installing Win7 x64 on GB X58A-UD7 where our former forum guru (Lsdmeasap) provided X58A-UD7 ssd performance information several years ago.

With your ssd connected to the Intel sata2_0 port, rerun the Anvil and AS SSD benchmarks again.
You will probably notice an improvement where your system feels faster.

      Re: GA-X58-UD7 and Samsung 850 EVO 1TB

The S6 marvel controller will perform worse than the ich10r.

You may wish to buy an ebay LSI raid card, and flash it to "IT" mode to get proper sata6 speeds.

most "consumer" sata6 cards basically suck and are slower than the ich10r...

edit: IBM ServeRAID M1015 Part 2: Performance of the LSI 9220-8i

edit2: there is a 4 port version on ebay for 55$ versus over 100$ for the 8 port. see if the vendor will cross flash it to IT mode for you.

Profjim and messerchmidt's - Thank you yet again, I'm currently connected to port 7 Sata III, I assume I'm using the Marval driver as it's also in the bottom toolbar on the right.

I did try moving it up into Sata II port 1 but could not get the machine to boot.

        Thanks again.

          Re: GA-X58-UD7 and Samsung 850 EVO 1TB

Thank you for your guidance and help.
I have now plugged into the Sata2_0 port and run AS SSD again, there is an improvement, so thanks for that.

One thing I cannot see to get rid of is under show hidden icons, bottom tool bar on the right side, if I click the USB icon I have Eject Marvell 91xx Config.
I can eject it and nothing happens, next reboot it's back.
Is it required or can I can I remove it, if yes how ? or do I need to download and install the driver or something.

          Thanks.

            ***UPDATE***

Disabled port 6-7 in bios, Marvell error now gone.

I will now look into the suggestion of the LSI Raid card.

Can you explain what the benefit of this card will be, I've not come across them, but will do a bit of research.

            Thanks.
