Was installing windows 7 on a new build last night and went to the GigaByte resource CD and started installing drivers. Last one I did was for USB 3.0 (don't remember exact wording of driver), restarted, then found my keyboard and mouse didn't work. Both the Keyboard and Mouse are old 2.0 devices but I figured all that stuff would be backward compatible. Any ideas what the issue might be? Is there a way to back out the driver without usb devices? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: USB issues after driver update Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5
Do you have a PS2 keyboard you can try? Or have you tried the rear USB ports? If you can find a way into Windows you can uninstall the USB 3.0 driver, reboot, then reinstall it and see how it goes.
Otherwise you may have to do a new Windows install.
I've had mine lock up while installing USB 3.0 before but on reboot the devices worked.
I've noticed also that installing the USB 3.0 before the chipset driver can cause problems sometimes....but if you use the disc that came with the board it will install in proper order.Maximus 8 Hero/6700K @ 4.8/4x4GB LPX @ 3200 15-17-17-36 CR1

Re: USB issues after driver update Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5
Thanks for the reply and sorry it took awhile to get back. I tried both the side and back USB ports with no luck. (prodigy mini-atx case). I'm asking around for a PS2 keyboard or adapter but haven't found one yet. I guess I would rather reinstall my OS then actually buy one.
By chipset driver I'm guessing you mean(I have Windows 7 SP 1):
Intel INF installation 10.0.13
and
Microsoft Hot fix KB2685811(64)
and
Intel Management Engine Interface
(Note) Please installing Microsoft Hot fix first, if operation system is Windows 7. 10.0.0.1204

Probably just need to reinstall the OS, then of course the drivers.
