Re: Socket 771 Mod Xeon X5460 GA-P35-DS3L Overclock
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
The four HWiNFO Core Clock current values don't need to be at the highest speed, just reasonably high.
You might find that moving your mouse pointer back and forth several times over several icons is enough to get all four core clocks reasonably high.
If you start LinX or IBT and only two of the core clocks are at full throttle, a 50 GFlop normal score will probably only give you a 37 GFlop score.
One confusing HWiNFO section is the Core Usage section which will report 100% usage for each core even when only two cores are working at maximum capacity. Take a look at my chart with the red and blue boxes and you'll see that it reports 100% usage for all four cores, even though two of you cores only completed 60% of the number of FFT tests that the two higher performing cores completed.
Your current Large FFT test screen-shot looks fine where all four cores are maxed out.
I will run small FTTs again shortly - How do I make sure that all cores have high values before I start the test? Do I need to make the system do something demanding as I click start?
