  • Secure Erase Problem on GA-Z77X-UP7 F7a mod 4

I secure erased my 840 pro and installed a fresh copy of windows 8.1. Everything was moving smoothly until I installed the intel rst 13 drivers. I noticed that my recycle bin repopulated with files from a previous windows 8.1 install. Does anyone know why those files would appear after installing intel's drivers?

What was the exact procedure that you followed?
Did you use Samsung's Magician software to secure erase your ssd? If no, which program did you use?
When you reinstalled win 8.1, were there any other hard drives or ssd's connected to your system while you did the install?

I used parted magic to secure erase my 840 pro and there were no other drives connected to the system during the install.

      EDIT:
I secure erased my 840 pro using parted magic.
      Installed windows 8.1 in UEFI
      Installed Intel RST driver
      Reboot
Files appeared from last install in my recycle bin

What files did you find in the recycle bin? Personal files, Windows, or both?

I can't see how installing an IRST or any driver could possibly do that. Very strange, are you sure that was not caused by something you did?

If the secure erase finished correctly, then the SSD was cleared of all files. Multiple partitions on a SSD should all be cleared by a SE. How could a driver bring files back?

yes it was very strange! It was files i left in the recycle bin from a previous install (personal files). This is the first time i have seen anything like this. It isn't my first rodeo secure erasing drives and re-installing Windows.

Is it possible the files were held somewhere in a cache that the erase missed?
