  • Z77X-UD3H - Sapphire 7970 3GB PCIe - Black screen on boot

I just replaced my motherboard from an ASUS P8Z68 to a Gigabyte Z77x-UD3H hoping this would fix the issue, but it hasn't
I have my video card in the PCIe slot, and most of the time when I turn on my computer, the computer boots up, but the screen is blank/black/in standby.
I have tried HDMI and DVI to the video card. I am forced to shut down the computer, multiple times, before the card is recognized on bootup.
When the screen is blank/black/in standby, I can't do anything. I updated the bios on the video card, but didn't fix the issue.
Please help, or offer some suggestions. The video card is 2 years old, and I feel like I may need to replace it if I don't get this issue fixed!

Seems this video card has numerous complains:

Two or three are very interesting posts.
Download MSI Afterburner. Once installed and you have your settings the way you like them, within the MSIAfterburner directory, find "MSIAfterburner.cfg" and edit "UnofficialOverclockingMode" changing 0 to 1. This keeps AMD's powerplay on and thus, keeps your HD 7970 video driver from crashing / locking up your system.
Any switch on card to switch lower resolution?

I don't know if you tried that since there is no specs posted but just in case:

The Sapphire 7970 doesn't come with GOP Bios out of the box in case you are using Windows 8 in UEFI installation mode.

          Hope it helps
