Hi, I tried booting from CD the other day and ran into this.
For some strange unknown reason I can non longer boot my machine from anything. USB/DVD etc.
It bypasses everything that I set in the BIOS and goes straight into Windows.
Upon further investigation I found out that MS have implemented a Secure Booting mechanism with Windows 8. But this only applies to Motherboards that have a UEFI BIOS.
My BIOS is a legacy 2011 Award. Therefore SB shouldn't work.
But it is. I have checked the setting in the BIOS and nothing has changed. There is no reference to Secure Boot.
I managed to get the same result when I tried to boot my Windows 8 Laptop with the same media. That has a UEFI BIOS so I went in and disabled Secure Boot and the it worked.
What can I do? It means that I can't boot my PC from a CD/DVD, re-install another O/S or backup my machine using a third party imaging disk.
Thanks
