At a loss as to what else it could be, would it be a pretty safe to bet on the GPU?

    Re: Faulty Gigabyte GTX 680?

Have you tried underclocking your card to the stock 680 specs of - Base Clock: 1006MHz and Boost Clock: 1058MHz? You can use MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X to do it with. After that, try running Valley and BF3 again. There's been 3 revisions to the graphics card. If this test works or doesn't, you'll need to follow the steps here to get a replacement.

Sorry I should have been more specific. This card is this one, "GV-N680OC-2GD" and is running at completely stock speeds for this particular card. I've not tried to downclock it. I've emailed Gigabyte UK support so I await their reply. I'm pretty sure it is the gpu. Tried BF3 again and I get a crash to desktop and it reports a DirectX error. From reading around the Internet seema its a fairly common error with quite a few people reporting it as a result of a faulty gpu.

Thanks. Just tried the onboard. Completely fine after several runs of Ungine Heaven. See op for screen shot.

Even tried via HDMI instead of DVI on my TV screen with the 680 and issue remains and tried the second PCI-E slot too. Have raised a Gigabyte Support Ticket.

              Re: Faulty Gigabyte GTX 680?

Yeah I hope so. Got a reply from Gigabyte asking me to try a couple of things like updating the BIOS and building the system outside of the. Have been trying to get hold of my ex-colleague who bought it too just in case it needs to go back to the retailer but no luck so far. Have a copy of the receipt but I hope I'll be able to RMA it directly back to Gigabyte tbh.
