  • Gigabyte EX-58 UD5 Computer keeps restarting in infinite loop After turing on for 2 Sec

    Computer was working fine yesterday.
There was a power cut yesterday so i shut down the computer and turn off the ups.
When power came back i turn on the pc and it goes into infinite restarting.
It stays on for about just 2 sec and restart again and again.
I cannot even go into bios because it restarts within 2 sec and nothing comes up on the screen not even the Gigabyte Logo.Lately i had been getting Blue screen error.
I dont Remm the Stop Error code.
But i do remmember it was around 4 to 5 stop error that occasionally pop up randomly.
For Fixing blue screen error i formatted my pc .
Did a fresh installation of win 7 64 bit.
But it did not resolve the blue screen error.
Now it just keeps on restarting (Exactly just count 1 2 and it will restart).
Error that i see on gigabyte mobo display is 88. I am not sure thats even a error.

    MotherBoard : Gigabyte EX58 UD5
BIOS : Never updated the bios. Using the same bios version that came along with the mobo
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 3 sticks . Each ram 4 Gb 1600 Mhz
    Graphic Card : Zotac 460Gts
    Processor : i7 920
PSU : 600 Watt Cooler Master
Hard drive :Seagate Barracuda 7200.11(1 TB)

Heat sink on processor - Hyper 212 Evo

    No overclocking

    Here what i did:
1)Checked power supply with paper holding clip. Its working fine. Fan is spinning continuously

    2) The only things which are connected is GPU,CPU,1 ram in white slot (although tried other 5 slots as well ) .

Also tried attaching and removing hard drive.

Attached another hard drive to see if its the hard drive which causing the problem. But problem persist

Took out the graphic card cleaned it and put it back.

Cleaned the RAM put it back

Used air blower to clean the dust.

Tried all 3 Ram that i have in all the slots available.

Tried to turn on computer with just cpu connected (Not even Ram) .I get the same behaviour. It does not matter even if i connect the Gpu ,hard drive, ram or not i get the same behaviour.

3)Tried to clear Cmos by holding the clear cmos button for about more than 1 min then did the same with the power button .Took out cell .Waited for 30 Min .Still the same.

I use my PC for Digital Sculpting so without it i cannot survive
Please any help would be appreciated.

One more thing if my mobo is Bricked which brand would you would suggest to buy a new mobo for a long life may be around 6-7 year

tried with just one ram stick installed and no hdd? you should update the bios to f12 as it will be more stable if you can get things working

anyway you can test with another graphic card?

Re: Gigabyte EX-58 UD5 Computer keeps restarting in infinite loop After turing on for 2 Sec

I havent tried using another graphic card.

I will definitely try if can find a spare one

is it possible that graphic card could be the culprit?

Re: Gigabyte EX-58 UD5 Computer keeps restarting in infinite loop After turing on for 2 Sec

Got a graphic card from a friend and still the same problem
so its not the hard drive
            not the ram
            not the graphic card

if it is a cpu problem then there is no way for me swap a cpu and i need to be 100% sure who is the culprit. So that i can purchase new things accordingly

if it is motherboard is it possible to get the motherboard repaired ?

thank you for help.Just one last question which is a better option

                  1)get a new Lga 1366 socket asus sabertooth x 58 motherboard which would be around 200 $

2)Upgrade to Lga 1155 buy a new motherboard and a processor.(Dont know what would be the cost)

My main purpoes is Digital scuplting and rendering. Working on Software like Zbrush,Maya,Max,Photoshop. So what do you recommend. What would the best solution here.

So if i buy 1155 socket processor now would it also become a dead
socket in another 2 year ?

Now if i will upgrade my pc i dont want any kind upgrade in another 6 years so i need future proof pc.

1155 is already a dead soket due to haswell being a 1150 socket

you could buy a cheap b85 1150 motherboard and a 4770k cpu 4770k being a hyperthreaded cpu same as your 920 so 4 cores eight threads which would help in rendering

or you could buy a cheap used z68 motherboard and a used 2600k or 2700k cpu

                    again a z77 board and a 3770k cpu

out of all those clock for clock the haswell is the fastest, the ivybridge (z77 and 3770k second) and the sandybridge z68,2600k/2700k third fastest

or keep an eye out for another used x58 board one like the x58 ud5 or the asus p6x58d-e

I am going to buy a TUF series of asus motherboard in mid of 2015 so that i have 5 year warranty . Then if my motherboard get dead again i have the warranty even if the socket is dead.
