GA-z87x-ud3h do not recognize Plextor M5P 128go

Hello there :)

I just built my new computer and i have a hard time making my ssd recognized by the motherboard.
Well, it only recognized on the Marvell sata port and if i switch the marvell controller to IDE mode instead of AHCI.

If i plug my ssd in Intel ports, the ssd does not show either in AHCI or IDE mode.

I updated the motherboard to F7 Bios, and it's still not working, tried a few other ports, tried to unplug my other HDD.

What i did not tried : Update to F8e bios, update the plextor firmware to 1.05 (currently on 1.03, but the changelog does not talk about controller issue being fixed)

I booted a windows 8.1 iso in BIOS mode (not UEFI) and the SSD show up in the list, even if it does not show up in the bios. But i can't install windows on it (windows wan't the controller driver, i installed it but it's still broken)

Using the marvell port in IDE, i managed to install windows in Bios Mode (because i didnt know how to install in uefi mode, i have to do that later when the ssd will be recognized, but may be that's part of the problem).

So if you guys have any idea of what's happening, any help would be really appreciated :)

idk if the Plextor is sandforce controller? theres known issues with sandforce and intel z87 sata ports atm,idk if theres a fix due,either firmware or bios

It's not sandforce. It uses Marvell.

Yes i tried the latest bios, and i managed to update the ssd firmware using another computer.

The ssd is recognized in windows when i hotplug it, i can copy stuff on it, etc... and it use the microsoft built in driver, so no big deal.

I tried plug it in a laptop i have, and it's recognized by the bios.

I really don't know what's happening

I've seen someone on plextor forum having an issue with his seasonic g-550 psu (which i have) and it's M5S, may be i've got the same problem... Infortunatly i don't have another PSU to test if the problem comes from my PSU not delivering correct power at startup or the motherboard.

Weird, I tried another computer, and the SSD works, then i tried another PSU, and the drive do not works.
I'm gonna send it back and hope this is just a SSD problem.

Hey Patedam, have you got them to replace it? Like I mentioned in the PlextorAmericas forum, after having confirmed that it is also having problems in another PC, I would have it replaced.

Yes, after weeks of testing, the drive still intermittently disappeared, so I decided to have mine replaced. No problem so far ever since, about a month now.
