  • No integrated video over DVI or HDMI until windows login

    MOBO: B85M-D3H, BIOS latest F7
    CPU: i5 4570
MONITOR: Samsung 2343BW connected via single link DVI-D

There is no display until windows login screen when using Intel Graphics 4600 when using motherboard DVI or HDMI.
Windows comes on in the proper native display resolution with no problems.
But I am unable to see POST or get into BIOS screen when the display is connected to DVI or HDMI motherboard output.
This happens with and without discrete card installed, with igfx option as the 1st display device set or not, with the monitor hooked up to motherboad DVI or HDMI outputs.
Tried different cables, different monitors. Tried dual link DVI-D, same thing.
Everything works over motherboard VGA port. My last board was B75M-D3H, which didn't have this issue and worked like a charm with my monitor.

Is there a BIOS option I'm missing,a bug in BIOS/VGA drivers or a hardware malfunction?

I think its something to do with the resolution through hdmi/dvi

are you using latest mb bios?

Yes, newest BIOS, F7. The board had 4 revisions since it came out, tried each and every one with no resolution to the problem.

Re: No integrated video over DVI or HDMI until windows login

Noticed something similar with my dvi cable having no picture, but even in Windows login. Guess it was my cable because HDMI works, and I don't have a spare dvi to test.

For HDMI, have you checked if the option in bios to display logo is disabled? In HDMI, my display is also blank until the win logo. For entering into bios, as I reboot I immediately keep pressing/holding the delete button.

Re: No integrated video over DVI or HDMI until windows login

I'm mashing the DEL button to enter BIOS as soon as I hear the POST BEEP and it doesn't show up. Same as I do when connected via DSUB when everything's OK. So I think that can be safely ruled out. Does the display logo change the resolution of the POST screen perchance? Unlikely, but didn't occur to me to try it before, will check.

Re: No integrated video over DVI or HDMI until windows login

I see. Personally, I don't think the 'display logo' setting would affect, or have any effect on the resolution, though I may be wrong. Besides with HDMI, I can switch to both HD or Classic view, so I believe if you're using D-Sub then it should just automatically switch to Classic. Your issue might be a problem with the board displaying? Perhaps can you also try asking @sin, he works closely with GBT folks.

FWIW, actually I recently don't see the 'Starting Windows' animation anymore. From reboot, the first screen I would see now is the login screen already (if I don't go to BIOS).

Re: No integrated video over DVI or HDMI until windows login

its either a mb bios issue or your monitor compatibility

I don't get any of those problems using hdmi with my gpu or using igpu,it shows bios and windows loading screen just fine
