Hi and welcome everybody Im new here.

I have a problem and I hope someone will be able to resolve it. So
Im trying to install DDR3 on my EP35C-DS3R board but pc doesnt boot. Everything is working perfect with DDR2 rams.
First DDR3 I've tried was Crossair and now Kingston and the same situation system dont boot. What can be the problem?

    EP35C-DS3R
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

    Hi and welcome to forum.
I suggest you to reset BIOS to Optimized/Save defaults first (with DDR2).
Then insert only 1 stick of DDR3 in proper slot and try.
Be sure you used latest BIOS.

Using ep35c-ds3r ddr3 spd site:forums.tweaktown.com search terms, google provided links for TweakTown threads that should have useful information. The link for these results is ep35c-ds3r ddr3 spd site:forums.tweaktown.com - Google Search

Booting with Stasio's suggestions, you should be able to boot into windows.
If you post a cropped CPU-Z screen-shot, it will display the manufacturer's specifications that should work with both modules installed.
You will probably need to increase (G)MCH Over Voltage Control to +0.10 or +0.20 for 2x2GB of memory.
Several other bios tweaks will probably be needed.
If your system still won't boot, provide a link to the Kingston web page for your specific ram kit.

We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs portion of your

Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.

You can run several instances of CPU-Z at the same time. CPU-Z CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting -- freeware download

          Hi Guys

Thank You very much for Your replies. i did put my hardware specs in registration form but seems like it wasn't saved (maybe there is some problem, im using opera).

          So cpuz:

I did try with one stick in both slots separately, no change. Is the bios resetting its settings when it tries to boot and dont boot in 2 chances?

I have the F4 bios so its the most recent.
Its no way that the second DDR3 (8GB (2x4GB) HyperX DDR3 1333MHz DIMM CL9) i bought (crossair previous) is faulty, i dont believe that im so unlucky :P.
Anyway I will try taking battery out and start with only 1 stick, but i think ive already tried everything its possible.
          thanks again and fingers crossed!

Re: EP35C-DS3R won't boot with new DDR3 ram

            2 x 4GB of DDR3 memory probably won't work with your motherboard.
The specifications for your motherboard say:
            Code:
            [B][COLOR="#0000FF"]DDR3:[/COLOR][/B] [LIST=1][*][B][COLOR="#FF0000"]2 x 1.5V[/COLOR][/B] DDR3 DIMM sockets [B][COLOR="#0000FF"]supporting up to 4 GB of system memory[/COLOR][/B] [*]Dual channel memory architecture [*]Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules[/LIST]
            [B][COLOR="#0000FF"]DDR2:[/COLOR][/B] [LIST=1][*]4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory(Note 1) [*]Dual channel memory architecture [*]Support for DDR2 1200 (O.C.)/1066/800/667 MHz memory modules[/LIST]
I wouldn't trust running with 8GB of ddr3 memory in your system.

            I'm happily running 4 x 2GB of DDR2-1066 memory in my P35-DS3L/E6300 (R0) and P35-DS4/Q9650 overclocked systems.

                Hey guys

The point is i found a loads of posts on the other forums that people successfully installed 8gb of DDR3 on P35C-DS3R and on extnesnion of P35 - mine mobo EP35C-DS3R. Could it be a problem with Intel E8500 and DDR3?

Post a link to the Kingston memory specifications for your specific memory kit.
Once we have the information, we might be able to provide some settings that might let your system boot with one memory module at first.
You will need to do some serious stress testing to determine if the bios settings are stable.
You should start with non-overclocked, stock cpu speeds initially.
Once both memory modules are stable when they are both installed, you can then try to overclock your cpu again.

You've got to crawl before you walk, and walk before you run, especially with an unsupported memory setup.

Did you find any EP35-xxxx posts that used your memory kit? If yes, please provide links to the post or thread.

I've got to go out right now, but I'll have some bios settings for you to try when I get back in several hours.
It will involve using the stock FSB = 333MHz and the 3.20 System memory multiplier for 1066MHz memory speeds.
You will need to try somewhat higher (G)MCH settings along with Dram Voltage = 1.55 - 1.65 volts.
Set Static tRead Value = 7.
Make detailed notes about each of the settings for each attempt and if there is any improvement, including partially successful attempts.
Only use one memory module in the first memory slot.

Did you ever post with only 1 stick of RAM?

It depends on the module SPD. With the difference in latencies and settings related to the memory controller latencies, there are potentially some modules that might not boot on some older boards.

Hello everyone, I am also new to this forum.

Although this thread is over-1-month-old. I have encountered a very similar problem, that is, OS or even BIOS does not boot up, always rebooting after few seconds. However, I want to insert only 1 stick of 4GB GoodRAM DDR3 1333MHz. GR1333D364L9/4G. Link with description of the memory http://www.goodram.com/files/Downloa...9-4g_256x8.pdf

I have followed few suggestion made here (BIOS flashed to F4, although I tried F5b, but the system run very slowly then, had to flash-back), and setting BIOS to Optimized/Saved/Changed memory. My system specs should be in signature.

                          Shots from CPU-Z

I would appretiate any suggestion on what to do in this situation. Should I manually set latencies in BIOS for the new memory, given by the manufacturer?

                          Thanks in advance.

                            Welcome to the forum.

The Gigabyte memory QVL list http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList...c-ds3r_2.1.pdf only shows support for 512MB or 1GB ddr3 memory modules. You might be able to find a 2 x 2GB memory kit that will work, but I doubt that a single 4GB memory module will work. DDR3 memory in P35 or P45 supported motherboards can sometimes be tricky to get it running at full memory speeds. Using 3 x 1GB of ddr2 memory is not optimal and your best performance will be with 4 x 1GB or 2 x 2GB of matched ddr2 memory. 4 x 2GB of ddr2 memory is supported, but the price would probably be too high.

Their are a lot of P35C threads in the forum. You should use the forum's advanced search feature to look at these threads to see which older ddr3 memory kits have worked for others. Using newer memory kits might cause problems. Most memory manufacturers' web sites will have a memory search feature that will list memory kits that are compatible with your motherboard. Using memory kits that they haven't listed as compatible with your motherboard is iffy at best.

In the Keyword(s) field, type p35c, select the Search Titles Only option and then press the ENTER key.

                            I'm running 8GB of ddr2 1066MHz memory in my P35-DS4 and P35-DS3L overclocked systems.

Re: EP35C-DS3R won't boot with new DDR3 ram

                              Hello again.
                              Thank your for your reply.

I am aware that the manufacturer gave a compatibility list, but I have read a lot of threads (here and elsewhere) saying how people could insert 4GB (single stick) and 8GB of DDR3 memory. Thats why I was wondering if there's a way.
I think I know the main problem why it does not work for me.
I cannot manually set CAS latency above 6, and my memory has 9. But I still don't know if that can be changed.
If you have any other options or suggestion, please let me know.

                              Regards,
                              Fodan.
