Re: How to upgrade mei on my ga-x79-ud3
Here are is the simplest method to update to latest version of MEI on your X79 variant Gigabyte motherboard:
1. Update BIOS to the latest Beta BIOS, or the latest modified BIOS (I personally always use the latest modified BIOS by stasio)
2. Download and install the latest MEI driversHERE.
4. Extract the firmware into a new folder, let's call this folder A.
5. Open command prompt as Administrator.
6. Navigate to folder A > Local-Win64 in command prompt.
7. Run flash.bat
8. Shut down the computer once fully flashed. Restart is not enough.
8. Power on the machine and run command prompt as Administrator again and navigate to the meinfo64 folder and run info.bat. Assuming you have 64 bit OS. Otherwise run info.bat under meinfo for 32 bit OS. Make sure it says: "FW Version: 8.1.40.1416"
9. Enjoy!
Edit: I have updated the tutorial to be more fool proof.Last edited by ZzBloopzZ; 07-14-2013, 03:36 PM.

Not being able to find the parameters might have something to do with how Gigabyte updated the ME Firmware.

Thanks for the tips but unfortunately it does not work, always the same error, nevermind back to f12u and being patient

Re: How to upgrade mei on my ga-x79-ud3
Forgot to mention, make sure that you have the latest MEI drivers installed so that it can communicate properly while flashing. I was originally receiving errors until I installed the drivers as I was on fresh Windows install.

Re: How to upgrade mei on my ga-x79-ud3
I am kinda stuck with the MEI V7 too on my X79-UD5 here. Since F13p the event log has been throwing 1-4 MEI warnings at me at every bootup for no apparent reason.
Log Name: System
Source: MEIx64
Date: 14.07.2013 02:34:03
Event ID: 1
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
Maybe that's not having any adversary effect.
Out of curiosity, does the modded UD3 BIOS allow updating the microcode? ASUS BIOSses have gotten to 070F by now, and Gigabyte is stuck at 070B. AFAIK with 070C Intel has introduced stability improvements...Last edited by Amurtigress; 07-13-2013, 08:05 PM.

They are not releasing the Intel updates as they should.

Re: How to upgrade mei on my ga-x79-ud3
Wonder what you guys are doing differently.
I was able to successfully update the firmware for MEI to v8.1.40.1416 on my X79-UD3 with latest modified bios F12u-mod.
In fact, I have flashed to it 3 times successfully. Whenever I flashed to older BIOS it would update to older MEI that was in the bios image file.
I just edited the tutorial with some changes, want to try again?Last edited by ZzBloopzZ; 07-14-2013, 03:37 PM.
