  • SOLVED: Possible memory bad memory slots ga z77m-d3h

Last night I helped out a friend to see if his cpu wasnt working by testing it in my own. Afterwards I reinserted my memory in the proper dual channels but it would start up giving me memory beeps. dual channel mode is used with slots 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 (colored for convenience). My system boots up when memory is in slots 3 and 1 with using one memory stick or using both in those channels but when i put any of the memory sticks in slots 2 or 4 i get memory beeps. Is there any way to fix this issue and will i be alright using both memory in single channel mode if i can't?

try popping out the cmos motherboard battery, leave it out a good 30 minutes, put back in and try your memory in slots 2 and 4

yes, you'll see a big performance drop compared to running in dual channel,it should work fine in dual channel mode,if not there's an issue somewhere that you need to find

an overtightened cpu cooler can cause memory issues aswell but try a cmos clear first, not sure if f13 is the latest bios? id update to latest if you havn't already

I have fixed the problem it as 2 of the pins were not aligned properly. I used a pin to set them straight and now everything is back to normal. Thank you for the suggestions.

ps. Can a mod tag this as solved please.
