yes it can handle 1600mhz,32gb @1600mhz might be a different story so I would test with less 16gb and see if it remains stable at 1600mhz

Re: Is my memory really running at 1600MHz?

Ok, so I've done a lot of tests with two sticks at a time. One of the RAM sticks (#4) seem to always force 1330MHz so it was left out of these tests. The tests below were all run with the three combinations #1+#2, #1+#3, #2+#3.

Tests with XMP disabled and Performance Mode = Normal

      Two sticks in lower bank:
      • Memory Speed is 1330MHz (not desired)

      Two sticks in upper bank:
      • Memory Speed is 1600MHz
      • On third reboot error message is given by BIOS (see below) and Speed goes to 1330MH

Tests with XMP = Profile1 and Performance Mode = Normal

Two sticks in lower or upper bank (same behaviour):
      • Memory Speed is 1600MHz
      • On third reboot error message is given by BIOS (see below) and Speed goes to 1330MHz

It seems strange that I have problems with all combinations of the RAM sticks. Also considering the post here

that describes a similar problem, makes me wonder if it's actually the motherboard that is the problem?

      BIOS error dialog:
      Code:
      Boot failure detected
The system has experienced a boot failure possibly due to incorrect configuration.
Previous settings in BIOS may not be compatible with current hardware state.

      Current CPU Speed : 3492.93MHz
      Current BCLK : 99.79MHz
      Current Memory Speed : 1330.60MHz

      Load optimized defaults then boot
      Load optimized defaults then reboot
      Enter BIOS

have you tried emailing gigabyte and telling them the issue? it could be a simple bios update that's needed if they can replicate the problem

Haven't yet, but with these findings today it's probably time to contact Gigabyte.
          Thanks for your help!
