  • How do I change the mem volatage settings on my GA-EX58-UD5? I need with this voltage problem.

Hi i,m using Corsair 3 x 4 GB tri channel RAM on my board.

It's rated at 1.5v but I would like to set it to 1.65v.

This is because I purchased another 12GB kit that I would like to install and these modules are rated for 1.65v.

But when I go in my BIOS I can't get the option up to change the voltage. It's set on 1.5v only and profile 1 doesn't change it.

Am I going about this the right way?

Or should I send the other 1.65v kit back. The problem is I can't find the 1.5v kit for sale anywhere, all they have is the 1.65v kit.

So I need in order to get 24GB I will need to run a 1.5v and 1.65v kit together.

    i.e 3x4 1.5v & 3x4 1.65v

    Thanks

that could be your issue, mixing different voltage rated memory

you wouldnt be able to use x.m.p you would need to set them up manually which isnt hard, look in spd system memory multiplier and set it to 8x or 10x,whatever gives you close enough to the rated mhz of the ram, then manually set the timings and dram voltage to 1.66v=1.648v in windows

timings you need to set manual/quick and type them into the top four spaces for example 9-9-9-28 command rate 1t or 2t

you can try sending it back for a matching kit,but if you cant i can help you set it up,x.m.p will set the whole memory to one profile or the other as its mixed voltage 1.5v vs 1.65v

matching kit would let you use 1.5v

          Hi,

I went into my BIOS and had a look around.

For starters I thought I would see what my RAM is set at.

Here is what the default is:

So I changed the setting to profile 1 as in this screenshot :

When I restarted all hell let loose. Windows kept restarting and I received memory dumps messages.

So it appears my RAMS not running anywhere near 1600Mhz.

          Thanks

24gb is a lot of memory,x.m.p is only a saved profile so might not be accurate in setting voltages

youll need a big bump in qpi/vtt voltage for 24gb

if you look in the m.i.t section for spd/system memory multiplier you can change the ram speed to 8x I think or 10x to give you 1600mhz speed, then look for dram voltage and set it to either 1.55v or 1.65v,then look for qpi/vtt voltage and set to atleast 1.38v

set system performance enhance to standard

I do a lot of work with virtual machines on my PC and some of them take up a lot of RAM. I've got my host which takes 4GB, then that leaves me with about 8GB for two virtual servers. Sometimes I'm running at 96% of 12GB. So I thought upping to my boards maximum of 24GB would give me enough headroom.

I went into the MIT section and changed the settings. I put the multiplier to 12x, set the voltage to 1.56v and manually put in the 9-9-9-24 timings. It's now running at 1600Mhz and it appears to be stable. I don't know if that's right but it's working.
