  • GA-Z77X-UD5H - Bios help

I have a GA-Z77X-UD5H which due to awful initial set up problems I stayed with bios F7 as it works generally ok as long as I do not try to overclock the i7 - 3770K processor

I thought I'd try to update the bios to F15r

but upon pressing the 'delete' key during boot I only get a blue screen with "Gigabyte - uefi dual bios" at the top and can not enter the bois setup screen

any suggestions as to how I can access the bios?

    thanks

Or you could try flipping the BIOS switch on the board.

Alas I should of stuck with "it if ain't brike don't fix it"!

        System now completely screwed.

I removed the battery and on reboot it gave options of loading defaults or entering bios; the former brings up a blank screen the latter a blue blank screen.

Managed to boot to windows without errors so I think I'll stay with F7 bios until I can dump this awful board until June when Haswell is due - thanks to all for help.

            Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H - Bios help

Could be your bios got corrupted. Loading the same bios version on both bios seems to help some people, if one goes bad you can then just flip the bios switch to the other.
Alt + F10 during boot to flash main to backup, Ctrl + F10 during boot to flash backup to main.
FWIW I have two UD5H boards and they have worked well for me.

If you seriously have a problem you can't solve I would contact Gigabyte support.

The F15r beta bios is working very well for me on both my rigs, but may not be true for yours. If not you could try F14 final.

              Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H - Bios help

Thanks for advice, I traced the problem to having a printer connected to a rear USB3 port - impossible to enter the bios with it plugged in, all ok when its unplugged. Just need to remember to unplug usb devices when I want to enter the bios setup.

                Re: GA-Z77X-UD5H - Bios help

If I remember correctly, F7 BIOS was a rather poor version. You should try upgrading to the newest as it may solve the USB issue. Also make certain you are using the newest USB 3.0 drivers.
