  • Z77X-UD5H WiFi not starting

    Hi

I have just assembled my new PC, but must have made a basic mistake with cabling as when I turn it on the LED goes on for about 1 second, then everything just shuts down. The board the the 1.1 version of the Z77X-UD5H WiFi - no OS installed yet, just wanted to get into the BIOS as step one. Are they any standard trouble shooting guides, or does anyone know what it means when I get stuck so early in the boot process.

    Thanks

    Re: Z77X-UD5H WiFi not starting

try with just one ram stick installed,no gpu and no ssd/hdd attached, then see if it boots into bios,if not pop out the mb battery for 30mins/put back in and try

make sure the 4 or 8 pin cpu pwer plug is plugged into the mb along with the 24pin power plug from your psu

      Re: Z77X-UD5H WiFi not starting

      Hi

Problem was additional power cable for the CPU - I thought it was only needed for overclocking, seems it is needed for standard installation as well. I did reset the CMOS via the reset button on the MB, and of course stripped it all back and added components one at a time. But I am pretty confident the problem was the cable.

Installed OS X ok using UniBeast, next step is Multibeast.

      Thanks again.

Whew! glad it was just a additional power cable for the CPU which is directly related to OP's failure to comprehend the basics of building a new system.

          Re: Z77X-UD5H WiFi not starting

All modern ATX systems require the 4-pin ATX_12v or the 8-pin EPS12v power supply cable to be connected to the motherboard.
As far as I know, no motherboards will post if you haven't connected one of these cables.

If you re-read the mobo assembly instructions, you'll see that connecting these cables is not optional.
