  • please help, GA-Z77-D3H wont post

    hello guys

    just bought a GA-Z77-D3H, Intel Core i5 3570K, G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V

    to go into

CM Storm Scout Case, Be Quiet Straight Power 650W PSU - 8x SATA 2x PCI-E 4x 12V Rails

now after installing the board and power supply the case and cpu fans spin up but no post, no bios beeps at all, have tried the on board gpu for output but no change, stripped it back and tested out of case with no ram still no bios bleeps.

sent mb back to ebuyer and they tested and updated bios to support cpu, but its still the same, am now thing it may be a doa cpu.

    any ideas?

    thanks and hi

try with only one ram stick installed in the second ram slot from the cpu socket, anychance you can test with another psu?

can also take out the mb battery and leave it out for 30mins to fully clear the cmos, pop it back in and try

its very rare for cpu's to die

it might give bios beeps idk,is that model of memory on gigabyte qvl list? you might need an updated bios to get the ram working but you cant do that untill you have a working system,id try a long cmos clear first and maybe could try another memory kit or psu

well the gigabyte site says this F3-12800CL9S-4GBXL i assume is the same as G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit.. | Ebuyer.com

maybe that's the problem, no idea anymore, ebuyer has said they already updated to the newest bios last week

          thanks for the input anyway

Re: please help, GA-Z77-D3H wont post

if ebuyer tested and updated the bios the only things they would have use differently is the memory/cpu and psu

cpu's rarely go wrong so i wouldnt say its that, however i wouldnt rule it out completely
memory can give you boot up problems if its not compatible
psu same thing,it simply wont post if its not compatible ect

It needs to be the memory. The sandbridge and ivybridge are two very different platforms the first is a 32 nm the other 22nm. Z68, X79 and Z77 are very different. The memory sticks for those last two platform are specific to the CPU first and then the motherboard. I am quite positive that the memory is in question here. Notice that the "value RAM" type won't work with new boards or will produce poor performance. The other thing is your power supply. It needs to comply with ivybridge memory at 1.5 volts. One last thing, please use same memory sticks across the board. According to G-Skill site, the specs clearly say "Features: Designed Specifically for Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs and P67 Platforms" for the one you have on hand. When you need to know which memory needs to be installed check the different manufacturer sites, they all have a tool that provides you with the proper memory sticks for a particular motherboard and / or CPU. One last thing, do not upgrade your BIOS if not needed. Please also checked SSD specs before you buy. Cheers
