  • Odd memtest issue

I'm having a strange issue with the system and samsungs from sig and running memtest+ 4.20.

With 4 sticks I can't seem to get them down to DDR2133 c10-10-10-28, memtest test#6 will always error between 12G and 13G. In a way this is a blessing, because I can test things fast by adjusting memtest range and selecting the proper test, but despite that I'm unable to find improvement.

At 1866 c10 everything is fine, as is 2133 c11-11-11-30. Vdimm tested from 1.50 up to 1.65V, Walked VcSA and VTT up to 1.2V at no point did it get any different. Upped Vcore too to 1.4V(bios) just in case.

Switching mem around does in the slots not help, the error will popup at the same range.

With either set of 2x sticks in either channel no problem.

Took out the ram, inspected the slots: no visible damage, if it where damaged I guess 1866 c10 and 2133 c11 would also have probs.
Took out cpu, inspected socket: same story, looks okay. if it where damaged other settings would suffer too, I guess.

    Tried tras 30
    Tried higher/lower trfc 180-(auto=202)-220
    Tried higher trrd (auto=7)-8

So now I'm wandering what is going on here, is it a crappy imc(then why won't it show any reaction to voltages?)

    any tips are welcome!

edit: I forgot to say, sometimes memtest will pass the said range fine a few times, and then produce like 2-6 errors in the following pass.

    Re: Odd memtest issue

What is the Command Rate setting in your tests? 1? 2?
Maybe you need slightly looser primary timings with 16GB versus 8GB.

      Re: Odd memtest issue

CR was at 2t all the time, so that should be okay. Tried 1t too ofcourse, but it just stayed the same, no errors except for test#6 at that 12-13g range.

edit: read that review, mine are slightly different sticks but they work the same at a 0.10-0.15 higher voltage. Other members of my dutch forum are getting up to 2600 with this mem.
