  • Unable to enter the Bios after a Bios update on Z77x ud5H mb.

Today I installed the new bios f6 using @bios.

The Bios update went well, but I was not able to enter the bios screen after re-booting.

This time I did not have a screen freeze in W7, all went well.

Had to do a "Clear Cmos" before I was able to enter the familiar Bios.

So concluding the bios updated went well, but initially not able to enter the Bios.

    Has anybody encountered similar problems?

    tks.

Installed Beta bios f6i no problems till this morning.

Whilst browsing the internet my screen froze (most likely nvdia driver 296.10 problems)
had this before but normally the screen recovers.

Now had to hard switch off the pc.

Than when I attempted to enter this Bios, I got the uefi bleenscreen but than every
    froze solid.

had to re-sett installed bios f5 via @bios in w7 and was than again able to enter the
    normal bios screens.

could de screen driver crash caused this weird problem?

assume the bios works normally used the standard vga drivers?

    thanks for the feedback.

I just updated to BIOS F6 and didn't experience the problem described.

Unfortunately I couldn't seem to get QFlash to recognise my USB stick so I reluctantly flashed using @BIOS then loaded optimised defaults.

I also updated to F6 with no problems.
I am unable to get Qflash to recognize my front USB 2.0 ports as well, but I have the USB 3.0 port thingie included with the board mounted in a 5.25" bay (plugged into internal 3.0 USB header) and it works in those just fine.

Did some further checking this morning, noticed that when I remove my momo steering wheel and Canon printer
connected to the rear usb 3.0 ports the problem does not occur.
My Logitech mouse/keyboard receiver was connected in the rear usb port, also removed this receiver only worked
on the front usb 3.0 not the usb 2.0 front port on my nzxt swith 810 case

so it seems that whlist updating the bios it is highly dependable what is connected to the rear usb ports?

Don't know. I've probably had everything uplugged/replugged 100 times in the past week and I don't pay much attention to which ports I plug which USB (2.0) device into. I also have a Logitech cordless kb/mouse and it's not caused any problems.

Re: Unable to enter the Bios after a Bios update on Z77x ud5H mb.

I plug KB and mouse into first 2 USB ports (red in rear), then everything is fine. If I plug KB into front USB ports, I can't enter BIOS because DEL key has no effect. If I plug mouse into monitor USB ports, the BIOS screen frozen. I seems BIOS has problem enumerating usb devices to find a usable KB/mouse.

Re: Unable to enter the Bios after a Bios update on Z77x ud5H mb.

According to spec and manual, UD5H USB ports consist of Intel and VIA VL810 Hubs.

So,be sure to update this drivers to latest one:

Also, you can try latest Beta BIOS F6l.

My previous post is fault. The culprit cause bios hang is gamepad. I think BIOS has problem deal with some non KB-mouse USB HID devices.

With Bios F6L, the problem has not yet surfaced.

Yes. F6L solve the USB problems, includes: 1. KB is functional now 2. multi USB storage device detected. previous BIOS only show 1 device.
