  • F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL + P55M-UD4 Rev11 help required

    Looking for some help with the BIOS settings for this combination. I bought the ripjawsz kit after doing some reading on whether this quad channel stick would work in my dual channel board. It seemed to be confirmed that it would.

    I've tried a few different settings but am getting a good mix of BSOD and application crashes.
    Has or is anyone running with a similar set-up?

    i7 860 (1156)
    Gigabyte P55M-UD4 (BIOS Rev 11)
    ATi Radeon HD 4870 (1GB)
    Corsair TX 650W

    Currently running:
    Current settings:
    X.M.P -> Profile1
    DRAM Timing -> Expert
    Manual clock timings for channel A/B -> 9-9-9-24
    QPI/VTT -> 1.190v
    DRAM -> 1.620v (all settings above that are pink)

    Any help really appreciated at this point.
    I'm in double figures already today!

    Isn't the memory rated to 1,5v? If so no need to use higher, set it 1.5-1.42v not more, more is not always better.
    For 16GB you may need more VTT, try increasing it gradually up to 1.35v.
    Jeep an eye on core temperatures with Core Temp or RealTemo.

      Thanks for the reply.

      So after my latest BSOD I've amended to the following:
      DRAM -> 1.50v
      QPI/VTT -> 1.210v

      And see how it goes.

        Don't wait for random BSODs run stability tests.
        Begin with Prime85 large FFT for 2-3 hours, then 8+ hours blend.
        With 16GB DDR-1600 which is the max for this board you may need more VTT.
        Record BSOD code and FFT size that caused it, repeating the test with that FFT may save time.

          Thanks for the suggestion.

          So I kicked Prime95 off with the large FTT (448K) and about 5 minutes in the program terminated.
          OS still alive and kicking though.

          I'll kick VTT up a notch and try again.

            Check DRAM voltage in BIOS HW monitor see maybe it needs 1.52 to be at 1.5.
            For this much memory 1.25-1.27v VTT is probably needed.

              Will do, looks like it failed the first large FTT test (only 3 of the 8 workers are still running)

              Seems to be a mixture of sizes, 576k, 512k.
