      Wonderful !

Last week i've done a refresh Windows 8 install in UEFI (previously i was in legacy), i do not have either the option of booting from a normal USB stick, but it's here with a bootable stick prepared with Rufus... i supposed MB only shows USB stick if it contains UEFI bootable drivers ?

I also found boot improvement since F15r to F16 BIOS... in UEFI with Win8 (Fast Boot enable) it's impressive : only 12 seconds from screen power on to desktop !

Do you have any idea why this still doesn't work? Sorry but i don't know why it fails, i supposed BIOS needs more tweak to support you CPU... so yes i think you'll need to wait for a new BIOS from GB...

I can't test it but i supposed these new X79's BIOS needs @BIOS 2.32 B13.0829.1... Also our gorgeous MacG32 explained how to flash without @BIOS : Flash BIOS from USB stick with FPT

So I have a contact within gigabyte who has leaked me info that the official X79 BIOS' will be released latest by wednesday(I'm from europe, keep the timezone difference in mind). I'm going to wait for the official BIOS instead of even trying the F4y BIOS for my mobo.

                    • X79-UD5 BIOS F13U bug report

                      @ stasio and everybody interested:

I was testing the F13u BIOS for my X79-UD5 board and found some more or less severe bugs:

It appears that the F13u BIOS is supposed to be a major step forward. A lot of the functions have been changed or moved in different places. Some have been added. Like Spectrum clocking or that ominous "3DMark01 Boost" feature...no kidding. 3Dmark 01.

Here comes my list of bugs, maybe Stasio might want to forward this to Gigabyte's developer team?

                      - Onboard LAN. The function to disable onboard GBe controller is broken. The 82579V GBit LAN still appears in Windows, no matter if it's disabled or not. It only disappears from the new BIOS internal NIC list.

                      - Vcore Loadline calibration: Voltage still drops when set to EXTREME (=100%). Previously when having VCore at 1.35V my system remains stable under OCCT and the voltage sticks to 1.35. On BIOS F13u it drops to 1.35V under load when setting it to 1.38. That's pointlessly too much when idle.

                      - Bootmanager. The F12 bootmanager ONLY displays the selected first HD(SSD), first optical drive and if present, first USB thumbdrive. All other SATA devices are OMITTED. The only way to select a different boot device is through the BIOS' boot override.

-Boot Override: Mostly shows all devices, however, sometimes those are ALSO reduced tot he selected first drives, like the F12 bootmanager.

-Full Screen Logo show: Always on, regardless of the setting.

                      - I don't see any effect from the PWM frequency settings, but I cannot verify this.

                      What's NEW in this BIOS:
SBE C2 stepping (6D7) CPU microcode 0710 (HA! At good last.)
                      RSTe ROM 3.7

                        @Vigorsol and others,

                        Hello,

I ran into the problem witht he BIOS flashers myself with the F13U BIOS.

Respectively the downloads page for the X79-UP5

                        GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 2011 - GA-X79-UP4 (rev. 1.1)

This flasher ALSO works on the X79-UD5, prolly on all X79 boards. For some reason my UD5 has no Utility section at all in the downloads.

However, BE WARNED that atBIOS V2.33 is forcibly flashing both primary and secondary BIOS without asking. At least it did on my board.
