    thanks wazza
mr postman brought the ram today and plugged it in and set timings to 8 8 8 24 1T with 1.65 volts and x10 on mem multi so running at 1667 and running beautifully straight away with my 3.8 cpu clock

may need some lessons in getting the ram higher now

    but anyhow
just letting you know it works and thanks alot for the ram and help
and big up to lsdmeasap for being patient...

Awesome to hear everything is running smoothly now! Thanks Wazza!

So, it was the Black Dragon's striking again, I knew it!

I've not used that memory before, but I'm sure it can properly do 2000+ if you wanted it to!

Wazza, do you know what IC's are on it?

      Re: thanks wazza

yeah its all running good and wazza helped me set my vcore and dvid and running at idle with my 3.8 clock at 1.184 and 1.21 under 100% high ibt and temps are topping at low 70's on high ibt
      running lovely too
its running at 8-8-8-24 1T at 1800 at the moment
is it asking too much to lower timings at this speed ?

also my next project is a z68 platform and have started the search and would like 2x16pcie at 16 not 8 now the only board i have found that seems to have it in the specs is the z68 ud7,or thats what it seems or do none of the z68 have 2 lanes at full 16pcie
anyone have any ideas on a good oc board prefer gigabyte
or does anyone have a ud7 z68 and 2600k or 2700k at a fair price or either for sale

im not sure,in total i had three kits, two 1800mhz kits and one 1866mhz kit,but ive never had any problems with either of them regarding cold boots ect, they were among the first kits that came out for x58

and gripper buy the extreme 4,its a great board

          Re: thanks wazza

Thanks for the info. Did you ever overclock these, or run lower timings at xx speed, if so what have you tested and ran them at?

Gr1ppe3r, you can try 7-8-7-16/20 at those speeds, but you may need to push more voltage to do that and it's probably not worth it if you have to do that. But do try that with 1.66v and see if they'll do it.

One of you guys tell me the exact model, or post a pic of the sticker, and I'll see if I can find what IC's are used. Then with that info I'll be able to better guess what you might be able to run them at.

i will pull a stick out later to pic it

and yes wazza your probably right but unsure of asus/asrock as had problem with top end asus board a while ago and its too close to retail price

looking at gigabyte as they have always been solid straight from the box items

am still thinking tho as no rush

just to let you know the asrock has two pci-e3 slots,at 16x 8x and at pci-e2 speeds 16x16x

heres link to one kit i have showing specs
OCZ DDR3 PC3-15000 Reaper Low-Voltage Triple Channel *EOL - OCZ

              the other kit is

              OCZ OCZ3RPR1800LV6GK 6 GB DDR3 PC3-14400 1800MHz Reaper HPC Triple Channel

i dont think you would improve on timings as they are closely binned, best i managed was at 1866mhz on the 1800mhz kit with same timings, tbh you dont really need to touch them, there very quick at stock 1800mhz speed/timings

yeah i have checked the spec on your board and its good
my only issue is i can get 1 retail for the same price so it doesnt make sense when i can get it from shop for almost same money
if you think about coming down a little more i would be interested.why did you get another board and not use the xtreme4 gen3?

i think i will probably leave the ram as is at the moment altho have been thinking about your other matching kit but the fan from my heatsink makes the first slot almost impossible to get stick in
